This collection of songs was commissioned by Lone Twin as part of their 'Boat Project', which formed part of the 2012 'Artists taking the lead' Cultural olympiad. Full details about the project can be found at www.theboatproject.com
Thirty Pounds of Bone is the musical project of Johny Lamb. More of his work can be found at thirtypoundsofbone.bandcamp.com
Johny sailed and worked on the boat 'Collective Spirit' throughout her maiden voyage, clocking up over 600 nautical miles around the south east coast of England, writing a song for each leg of the voyage and performing the growing collection of songs with local musicians at each stop.
these songs were recorded during the voyage in various hotels, rooms, and spaces, with a minimal set up of instruments and recording equipment, including several virtual iPhone instruments. It was mixed on headphones, and remains unmastered, just as it was captured.
Since the maiden voyage, the Ship's Log has continued taking in northern France and the South West of England.
